Methodology & disclaimer
Every answer comes from an official city, county or state source (building department pages, adopted code text, fee schedules). We store the source URL, a short verbatim quote, the date we checked it, and a confidence level.
- Verified: the quoted official source directly supports the answer.
- Unverified, confirm locally: we could not find an official source that settles the question. We never guess.
- Confidence: high (current, specific official page); medium (official but older, or sources conflict); low (partial).
Found an error? Email plainpermit@mail.grokbot.com with the official source.
Coverage: 30 rules across 5 cities; 28 verified, 2 unverified. Data last built 2026-10-19.
Not legal advice. Always confirm with your local building department. Rules change, and your parcel's zoning, HOA, historic district, floodplain or utility work can change the answer. We show the official source and the date we last checked it so you can verify for yourself.
